The false jasmine or rincospermo (Trachelospermum jasminoides) is a robust and vigorous climbing plant of very easy cultivation. False jasmine, which differs from the real one because it is frost-resistant, forms in spring a mass of flowers that last for weeks releasing a penetrating and enchanting fragrance.
It is a very easy and very long-lived plant that lives in suitable conditions for decades and knows no adversity or disease. After the purchase it must be repotted in a deep container or in the garden. A 40-50 cm deep pot is ideal for obtaining a rich flowering and vigorous development. Use a high-quality universal potting soil. Place a handful of organic fertilizer covered with a little soil on the bottom of the container so as not to be in direct contact with the roots.
Requires pruning in the spring and at the end of the season.
It lives very long in pots and in the garden.
It needs sun but it resists well even in shady, as long as bright, locations where it still produces some flowers. Tolerates extreme temperatures: sultry heat, intense frost.
