Maonia seeds form an evergreen shrub with oval, pointed leaves with small thorns. The flowers are gathered in yellow panicles and produces blue (edible) berries. Put the fruits in a pot and add water until lifting. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes. Pass the mixture through a sieve. Weigh the liquid obtained, add the same amount of sugar, put it back on the heat and bring to a boil. After 5-10 minutes pour a teaspoon of liquid on a saucer and see if it has reached the right gelatinous consistency. Pour the gelatine into glass jars and sterilize in boiling water for 30-60 minutes. This jelly can be eaten on buttered bread, but it is also an excellent garnish for ice cream or topping for biscuits.
