Nepenthes Alata Carnivorous plant

Nepenthes Alata or Nefente Alata is a tropical pitcher plant that develops shiny bright green leaves with characteristic insect traps called ascidia.

The reddish-green coloring of these mouths lures insects into the trap.

The animals that fall inside are slowly assimilated by the plant itself.

This plant can also grow well in Mediterranean climates with some precautions:

1- earth always very wet, better if positioned with water always present at the base of the pot

Direct light even in the sun for a few hours, it suffers from the cold below 0 ° C

Substrate: the ideal substrate is peat and perlite in equal parts.

Fertilization and special precautions: it has an extremely reduced root system, therefore a large pot is not necessary.
