Perlite is a volcanic rock that, subject to high temperatures, expands its volume up to 20 times the original volume. The structure of the granules is characterized by the presence of open and closed porosities. The simultaneous presence of these characteristics is such as to give the rock a high transpiring power and at the same time a high impermeability to water in the core of the granule. The expanded perlite is a stable and chemically inert product, compatible with the criteria of anabi- icea certification of eco-sustainability and bio-architecture. Perlite, thanks to its chemical-physical characteristics, is an excellent inorganic matrix for terracotta mixtures, cutting, lightening of containers, preparation of blends for cubes, propagation of flowering plants, vegetable garden and garden, repotting transfer of young seedlings born from seed from a pot or a box of seeds into larger containers. The perlite, mixed with the soil, improves the physical characteristics of the substratum, making it softer and more aerated, with a high water drainage capacity, facilitating the radical development of the crops.
