BRASSICA IN VASE
Although it’s edible and rich in beneficial properties, ornamental cabbage - belonging to the Brassicaceae - is normally used to embellish flower beds, paths and balconies. Available in three enchanting colors, this plant will amaze you with its unexpected beauty.
Ornamental cabbage is a perfect plant even for those with “black thumbs”, since it is easy to care for, it withstands temperature changes and it is not afraid of sub-zero temperatures!
This is why the period between September and March turns out to be the ideal one for the cultivation of brassica - its scientific name - which can give a touch of color to your garden and your balcony even during the coldest seasons. The ornamental cabbage, in fact, will amaze you with the flashy and intense colors of its leaves curled at the edges, which vary from white, to pink, to purple, up to the darkest purple and which magically intensify as the cold intensifies!
Care:
Taking care of it is very simple even for the less experienced: place the cabbage in a large pot and make sure that the soil is always moist, but never excessively wet.
The ideal exposure during hot days is in partial shade, while in the coldest of winter you can also move it to the sun.
When the days are warmer, the ornamental cabbages will tend to bloom: the center of the head will rise and the plant will produce yellow flowers that sprout in bunches. Once withered, the cabbages will have to be discarded in favor of seasonal plants.
